Acupunture

Acupunture WyomissingAcupuncture is part of a system of healing which originated in China more than 2,000 years ago. During acupuncture treatment, very fine sterile disposable needles are inserted into specific points on the body to help restore harmony and the free flow of energy (Qi). Acupuncture is a holistic therapy addressing the mind and spirit, as well as the body to encourage natural healing. Call (610) 374-2927 to schedule acupuncture treatment at the Center for Pain Control in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania.

Benefits

In classical Chinese theory, Qi flows through channels throughout the body, which if blocked, may cause discomfort and dysfunction. Acupuncture restores harmony and the free flow of Qi. An acupuncture treatment may also be preventative by addressing other potential or actual imbalances either with or without symptoms at the same time.

Acupuncture is designed to restore health rather than fight disease. Providing a specific description of symptoms to the acupuncturist helps to design the treatment and discover the cause of discomfort.

What to Expect

Your first visit will include an acupuncture physical assessment and treatment. Your first session with our acupuncturist will take about 90 minutes total. Maintain good hygiene to decrease the possibility of infection. Wear loose clothing or you may change into a disposable gown.

You will be placed in a relaxed position for your acupuncture treatment. The needles are very fine and do not need to be inserted deeply to be effective. You may feel a mild prick when the needle is inserted.

The needles may be warmed, twirled, or stimulated to enhance the treatment benefits. Acupuncture needles are usually left in place for about 20 to 40 minutes. Most people find acupuncture to be a painless and positive experience.
